What a fantastic experience this day was with Gina and Peter. The theme was mostly Hawaiian but the wedding took place on a beautiful organic farm in Petaluma. The ceremony was held under an old oak tree, and for the reception, they constructed a tent to hold all the fun activities which included; a pig roast, a homemade vintage inspired photo-booth and hula dancing -I mean...c'mon! Although Gina and Peter followed some typical wedding traditions, it was mostly a super unique celebration that was sincere, handcrafted, unexpected and oh, so sweet! You guys are the best. Thanks for being so patient and I hope we can all grab a drink in the city soon!

I knew after meeting Cate and Sasha, I really wanted to work with them. It seemed liked a really good fit. I was right. Hidden Villa was the venue and without even trying, it was such a beautiful ceremony and reception. Everything just seemed to flow naturally all day and the sunset over the Santa Cruz mountains ....pffft...magic.

In all honestly, I felt that this day was not about the details, the food and the place (although all of these things were absolutely amazing) but i think the best part of this wedding, and most memorable for me, was that your family and friends wanted nothing more than to celebrate the two of you. That's it. It was real, honest and lovely to witness. You guys are great. I'm honored to have been there and I hope you keep in touch.

Molly Watson and I photographed this beautiful house tucked away in the hills of Bolinas, ca. "The community is perhaps best known for its reclusive residents. Historically, it is only accessible via unmarked roads; any road sign along nearby Hwy 1 that points the way into town has been torn down by residents". Traci photographed our wedding three years ago and she was FANTASTIC
- I couldn't imagine anyone else doing a better job.

Her portfolio is awesome because she takes amazing photos of whatever she
is shooting. She's incredibly professional, thorough, friendly, and easy to
work with. She works really hard to give you the product and experience you
want to have and delivers it on top of being a creative, amazing, and beautiful
photographer.

The slideshows set to music that she puts together are really very special
and do a great job of capturing the timeline and essence of the day. I hate
being video'd so we opted out of having the wedding taped and am SO GLAD
we did that. Traci's slideshow was beautiful and more than enough to show
the feeling and progression of the day. It's also a great memento to quickly
show people your wedding w/o making them sit through a 30+minute video.

SO many people commented on how great our wedding photos were and
was the best thing I spent money on that day, by far. I even have a friend
who loved my wedding photos so much, she has Traci take photos of her

Golden Gate Park was naturally crowded with people soaking up the sun. The day started at the St. Francis hotel, a landmark in union square and the heart of downtown San Francisco. Aaron and Cate really wanted photos in the city and what a great backdrop
it provided. We set out through Union square, dropped into a few alleys and headed to The Regency where they had their ceremony and party. The wonderful crew at Leftwich Events, the fancy red baroque-style decor of this venue and the 6 piece band, really made the evening feel timeless like attending a fancy dinner party in the 1940's. It was a beautiful weekend in Seattle and they choose to have an intimate ceremony and dinner with family and friends on Friday followed by a photo shoot around town and reception/party on saturday. What a wonderful day to get hitched in San Francisco. Melissa and Larry had a beautiful and intimate ceremony in Golden Gate Park. It was a perfect location. The trees surrounded the perimeter of the ceremony site which made it feel secluded yet within walking distance, we had access to the parks main center. We took advantage of both the architecture and landscape. Larry was a bit shy at first but broke out of that quickly and it shows in these lovely photos below. They ended the night with dinner and drinks at Bacar. YOu guys rock!

The Brazilian Room at Tilden Park in Berkeley, CA. is a great place to get hitched. Lovely views and the sweet smell of eucalyptus to boot. Cecily and Brendan wanted to have their ceremony outdoors on the patio. Afterwords we took advantage of all the open space for fun formal shots. The inside dining area was uniquely decorated with vinyl records as place matting and an on-site photo-booth could take snaps for guests throughout the evening. Fun party guys! oh where to start ....i must say that individually mike and anna are just awesome people. They are both creative, generous, witty and definitely goofy. Together they are an explosion of fun. For example, they love to jump. they love to sing and dance and play the ukulele. they also drink whiskey on rainy days, especially their own. .... wedding day.
I've learned to read people pretty well spending all this time with them on their big day. You never quite know how things will unfold (or how couples will react) when the itinerary becomes a piece of scrap paper or a shield against the elements. Needless to say anna and mike's wedding day was full of all kinds of "fun" little surprises ( and if you couldn't tell already i use 'fun' as in crazy, impulsive and/or unpredictable). By noon we were on to plan "d" and not once, and here's my point to all this, was there a fuss, a ruckus or scene of any sort. not once. even when it almost snowed in August. Admittedly, if placed in a similar scenario i can't say for sure i'd come out the better person. But they were a team. making decisions on the fly, laughing and jumping around when they had the chance. like i said - a big explosion of fun. cheers you two. and big hugs to all of your wonderful family and friends. hope to see you soon!

Oh so many great images from one wedding it was hard to choose just a few. It was a great day for a wedding celebration in Mill Valley, Ca. The wedding ceremony actually took place in Old Mill park under the redwoods with a beautiful reception to follow at the Art Club right downtown in the city's center. Fantastic bright colors and guest to boot. They even had a table set up with fun quirky little bits of things to make cards of for the newlyweds. After dinner the party really picked up as folks seriously cut up a rug (or two). Thanks to the very entertaining DJ (David Carvalho). we ♥ court and john. congratulations!!!

Artist Statement -

The location and modus of my learning is always changing, but there are elements of my work that share a common place. From the beginning I recognized a propensity to photograph dilapidated buildings; I always admired the worn antiquated structures. Recently I discovered these longstanding artistic interests align with a Japanese aesthetic called sabi which literally means rust. The broader interpretation is the aesthetic for love of objects damaged by age and time, the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. This guiding principle interweaves two similar bodies of my work: one project slowly morphing into a second, largely due to a shift in my environment from big city to small town living. The third body of work shares a similar but different Japanese concept called wabi. The words wabi and sabi were not always linked, although they've been together for such a long time that many people use them interchangeably. In fact, there are many tea masters who argue the marriage of wabi-sabi dilutes their separate identities. For the purpose of this statement, I will keep the amalgamation divided.

In the city, I lived in the literary territory of Jeff Byles' Unearthing the History of Demolition and was very much inspired by his ideas of destruction and renewal that “buildings are built with their destruction written into the blueprint.” The cycle of demo/build severely impacts our environment but the real atrocity is that these well-built, timeless archetypes are being replaced by indiscernible complexes with unoriginal character. Before my eyes, the cityscape was in a constant state of flux, the landscape consistently changing. In all that rubble and debris, I found art. (see Rubble; images 1-6)

After moving to Pullman I stayed true to my disposition but turned my focus from the urban asphalt and half-hearted landscape to a more benign structure we call home. There are a surprising number of dilapidated, deserted homes around eastern Washington, from once bustling farm houses to one room trailers left neglected by their owners. I have entertained several anecdotes as to why this would happen but the common thread is that these places echo the mark of sad lives and hasty departures. My camera lingers on a few vestigial reminders: tattered window curtains, a bible, a stained mattress; all that remains is evidence of the former inhabitants. Through my documentation I began to question: are objects and space more than their physicality? Perhaps by paying attention we can stumble into something harder to see. For me, in that fleeting moment between the peeling wallpaper, abandoned toys and stale, musty air, I could sense the historic events of a family, or a life, as modest and simple as it were. These photographs are the beginning stages of a further investigation into the ways these sacred dwellings are swallowed up by time but still hold the memories and essence of their former occupants. I will continue this work as I feel it can take on many manifestations. For example, I am intrigued by the items left behind, the residual sediment. These artifacts were once part of a bigger story. I am compelled to use these findings as inspiration to create a series of installations or sculptures. (see New Work; images 7-14)

I am also sympathetic to a Japanese aesthetic called wabi, “the bloom of time, the appreciation of simplicity”. It is the understanding that beauty is fleeting and describes a way of life practiced by those who notice and appreciate the significant moments of each day.

I've been fortunate to travel abroad to many different countries. I have hypothesized that in one single, ephemeral day of travel in a foreign country, one can have 1,000 impressions. Major cities like Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kaula Lumpar and Hanoi are amongst the most energizing and cacophonous. In this noisy and visually stimulating state, finding a second of solace, quiet or inner-peace is paramount but also arduous. I've succeeded in describing these volatile moments through the lens of my camera as if the second the shutter released, everything stressful and animated dissolved to a blissful state of visual simplicity, like seeing or experiencing the moment from under a body of clear water. My plan is to build on this work in the future, possibly using these photos for layering via emulsion transfer, paint and resin. (see Provocations; images 15-19)

Though my true passion is fueled first behind a camera, I strive to have a diverse practice. Along with a variety of printing techniques, I've worked with resins, fibers, paint, sculpture and other mediums. For many of my images I envision a second emergence; that a negative is not limited to a simple and beautiful print but a potential evolution into a multitude of alternative forms.

Traci photographed our wedding three years ago and she was FANTASTIC - I couldn't
imagine anyone else doing a better job.

Her portfolio is awesome because she takes amazing photos of whatever she is shooting.
She's incredibly professional, thorough, friendly, and easy to work with. She works really
hard to give you the product and experience you want to have and delivers it on top of
being a creative, amazing, and beautiful photographer.

The slideshows set to music that she puts together are really very special and do a great
job of capturing the timeline and essence of the day. I hate being video'd so we opted out
of having the wedding taped and am SO GLAD we did that. Traci's slideshow was beautiful
and more than enough to show the feeling and progression of the day. It's also a great
memento to quickly show people your wedding w/o making them sit through a

Traci is absolutely wonderful to work, very easy and very communicative. In fact she had many tips and suggestions for our wedding since we
were very limited on time (such as taking pre-ceremony photos of just us, having a photo shot list of family members, etc).
She also has a great eye for capturing the great "ooh aaah" moments at our wedding!! The candids were the best, just because she captured so many
amazing personal moments. And our family formal shots came out great, lots of rich colors, fish eye views, everything.

1. She's very communicative after our deposit. We had more contact with her by the last 2 weeks counting down to our wedding.
2. I would say she is a great communicator and knows how to respond to guests & "difficult" family members. She understands time lines and
can move the family "herd" to the next shots, etc. We had about 70+ family members and got all our formal & 1 BIG family photo of BOTH Sides done as well!
She will most likely suggest your Family A LIST formals to be shot before the wedding to save time (which it TOTALLY DID) and then another photo session with the rest of the extended family.
3. Since we were new to the whole wedding, photo component, we mostly relied on Traci to give us some suggestions (such as taking our pre-ceremony shots before to save more time) and there is nothing else I would have done differently. She is a great professional, understands the clients, the family members and what needs to get done.

All in all, our wedding photos were seamless & effortless....it was so easy and not stressful at all. She can guide you & your fiance and the wedding party, the family members and friends throughout the whole event. It was one of the best aspects of our wedding!! You will be so happy you went with Traci!!

I recently shot some pics for a friends band and I would like to share them. Their name "Yarn owl" which i must admit is very clever but still I'm oblivious to it's origin - I'll make a point to get that story. Nonetheless, the music is quietly innovative and genuinely refreshing and although there are no intimate acoustic guitars or whispery male vocals, the sound is simple, jaunty, and homespun, with a lot of precision lurking beneath-- exactly what happens when you combine great lyrics with simple set-ups. I've come to question why the capital of Italy, known to its 4 million inhabitants as Roma, is described mostly as the city of love, fountains and baroque architecture...what about all the other glorious gems one can find wondering the streets alone with a camera in one hand and a gelato in the other? that would be me.

Of course you don't travel over the Atlantic and navigate all the way to Roma without taking a picture of the Coliseum. do you?

This was actually an image from a wedding I shot from a church literally a tennis ball's throw from the Vatican. - pretty special friends.

Today, one glorious and sunny (and rare) fall afternoon, I set off on a stroll around the Seattle city center in search of the most unique (in my opinion of course) vantage of the space needle taken again by my second holga mod this year.

In the end, i was distracted by other various scapes and provocations. I did get one shot of the needle though...

This year we were lucky enough to be in Europe twice: a wedding in Paris and then in Rome. We couldn't resist spending more than just a short weekend, when from Seattle, it takes...well, let's just say a full day and night to cross over all the states and the Atlantic sea. Of course, this journey is well worth the bad food and turbulence once you are standing in front of the Arc De Triumph or blissfully tunneling your way through a canopy of trees in the South of France on bikes; passing small rural villas and sampling the local fair along the way. Schucks -I must add it was a swell trip all around.

First we start in NYC. Anytime we fly over seas, it seems that this has been our international gateway. Jesse and I have turned this into a 3 night all inclusive binge of friends, food, shopping and bar hopping on bikes. I heart NYC.

I don't think anyone should visit Paris without having a feast of wine and cheese under the Eiffel with your friends. You can always steal a soccer ball from some locals playing near by. Try throwing the ball at the tower itself. I can almost promise you'll get a reaction similar to ours. Ah...memories.
