A Year In Adventures, 2013

Film was my first love. Although I live and work in a digital world my heart still yearns for it. It gives me satisfaction in the present moment and its an escape from the frenetic-hyper life I live in. I love the physicality of it, loading it, hearing the shutter. But mostly my love for film is an intangible one. It’s the special way that the world looks when captured on film. There is a quality to the light, the colors, the grain, the blur that varies from one film type to another. Where my digital cameras are a rational choice and decision, my film camera is an emotional one. And it will always be that way. Honest, fickle, and rewarding.

These photographs were taken on various trips last year. I feel so lucky that I get to travel. That I have a wonderful family to travel with. What else can one ask for. Hope you enjoy!

Dorian + Jared } Mission Bowl, San Francisco

I can honestly say I have photographed weddings in pretty much every type of venue under the sun; rustic barn, gothic cathedral, french chateau, hillside in Sicily, beaches of Mexico, a campsite under the redwoods... the list goes on & on.  However, only until just recently, can I add *bowling alley* to that list. Yep. Certainly not just any bowling alley mind you. This one is extra special. In the heart of hipster-ville-mission is a 6 lane bowl that serves up some of the tastiest cocktails and food around. Jared and Dorian knew exactly what they were doing. They planned one of the funnest weddings I've been to in awhile. They danced, they bowled, they exchanged vows, they cocktail-partied all night long. In short, it was an absolute blast. You guys are the best.

Jesse + Kaite } Culinary Institure of America, St. Helena

I just completed this wedding in St. Helena at the Culinary Institute.  Nutshell: It was *Fantastical*.  And I certainly don't use this word often. I picture it like this....Hogwarts Castle in the heart of wine country where almost like witchcraft, the students are whipping up spells in the kitchen. The food is really quite incredible. The bride & groom went with an art deco theme; the table decor all the way down to her beautiful dress. Oh that dress! I loved this wedding.

I guess I'll start off by saying that Jennifer & Aiden are two of the sweetest people I've worked with all year. They were both genuinely concerned that I was fed and happy on their own wedding day. And then lets just throw in the fact that the Valley Ford Hotel is seriously my new favorite place to get married. Its all right there for you. You know that "rustic charm" everyone is trying way too hard to emulate...well, its the real thing folks. yep. done and done. Then you add again to this list; great, no...*phenomenal* food, creative drinks, super-sweet-attentive staff and.... Ka-booom! Incredible.

Durham Ranch is now surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and white fencing, these grounds are where two beautiful people, Mel & Steve, joined hands in marriage. Who knew there was a winery on Treasure Island? What a great place for a celebration. Anna and Jeffrey were married by their good friend on a warm sunny day. They also had karaoke at the reception.
