In the quaint town of Sonoma there is a beautiful venue surrounded by hanging grapes, native olive trees and beautiful stonework. This is where two awesome people, Jessica & Jon, joined hands in marriage. It was really incredible to be apart of this wedding! I loved both sides of the family, all of your friends (a few were mine too :) ...everyone was so much fun. Honestly, I don't think anything could've been any better: the food, the setting, the view, the dance party, it was all fabulous. I still dream about that barbecue and pie you served up.
Well, I guess they say "all good things must come to an end" although I like to argue against this notion so I hope you both keep in touch and call me sometime for a beer! Madeline + Kyle } Henry Miller Library, Big Sur, Ca.

Nothing pleases me more than being hired by other creatives. There is a mutual respect for one's process and a sensitivity to what it takes to seize such a thing and claim it by putting your own mark on it. Madeline & Kyle are no exception, in fact, this is by far the most photos I've ever blogged for one wedding. Everywhere I looked there was some detail or some skateboard trick happening. The romantic location doesn't hurt but in my experience, its what happens when you get the right mix of people together with the right amount of creative freedom. When that occurs, I push myself harder because I see the creativity that these two people equally put into it.  At the end of the day, this reciprocal exchange keeps me going.  Well... that and the fact that my assistant and I cut some serious rug with everyone [ dance therapy, haha! ].  We just couldn't leave this crazy-good-time. You guys are incredibly awesome and I wished we lived closer. cheers.

A Year In Adventures, 2013

Film was my first love. Although I live and work in a digital world my heart still yearns for it. It gives me satisfaction in the present moment and its an escape from the frenetic-hyper life I live in. I love the physicality of it, loading it, hearing the shutter. But mostly my love for film is an intangible one. It’s the special way that the world looks when captured on film. There is a quality to the light, the colors, the grain, the blur that varies from one film type to another. Where my digital cameras are a rational choice and decision, my film camera is an emotional one. And it will always be that way. Honest, fickle, and rewarding.

These photographs were taken on various trips last year. I feel so lucky that I get to travel. That I have a wonderful family to travel with. What else can one ask for. Hope you enjoy!

Dorian + Jared } Mission Bowl, San Francisco

I can honestly say I have photographed weddings in pretty much every type of venue under the sun; rustic barn, gothic cathedral, french chateau, hillside in Sicily, beaches of Mexico, a campsite under the redwoods... the list goes on & on.  However, only until just recently, can I add *bowling alley* to that list. Yep. Certainly not just any bowling alley mind you. This one is extra special. In the heart of hipster-ville-mission is a 6 lane bowl that serves up some of the tastiest cocktails and food around. Jared and Dorian knew exactly what they were doing. They planned one of the funnest weddings I've been to in awhile. They danced, they bowled, they exchanged vows, they cocktail-partied all night long. In short, it was an absolute blast. You guys are the best.

This wedding was held at the Vine Hill house, which honestly, I don't think I could invent a better place for a wedding. It's like getting married at your childhood home.
