I can honestly say I have photographed weddings in pretty much every type of venue under the sun; rustic barn, gothic cathedral, french chateau, hillside in Sicily, beaches of Mexico, a campsite under the redwoods... the list goes on & on.  However, only until just recently, can I add *bowling alley* to that list. Yep. Certainly not just any bowling alley mind you. This one is extra special. In the heart of hipster-ville-mission is a 6 lane bowl that serves up some of the tastiest cocktails and food around. Jared and Dorian knew exactly what they were doing. They planned one of the funnest weddings I've been to in awhile. They danced, they bowled, they exchanged vows, they cocktail-partied all night long. In short, it was an absolute blast. You guys are the best.

This wedding was held at the Vine Hill house, which honestly, I don't think I could invent a better place for a wedding. It's like getting married at your childhood home. Jesse + Kaite } Culinary Institure of America, St. Helena

I just completed this wedding in St. Helena at the Culinary Institute.  Nutshell: It was *Fantastical*.  And I certainly don't use this word often. I picture it like this....Hogwarts Castle in the heart of wine country where almost like witchcraft, the students are whipping up spells in the kitchen. The food is really quite incredible. The bride & groom went with an art deco theme; the table decor all the way down to her beautiful dress. Oh that dress! I loved this wedding.

I guess I'll start off by saying that Jennifer & Aiden are two of the sweetest people I've worked with all year. They were both genuinely concerned that I was fed and happy on their own wedding day. Um, yea...this speaks volumes in my book. Just generous, considerate and super fun people. And then lets just throw in the fact that the Valley Ford Hotel is seriously my new favorite place to get married. Its all right there for you. You know that "rustic charm" everyone is trying way too hard to emulate...well, its the real thing folks. yep. done and done. Then you add again to this list; great, no...*phenomenal* food, creative drinks, super-sweet-attentive staff and.... Ka-booom! Incredible.

Way up in the hills of Napa sits a former cattle ranch marked by ancient oaks and rock-hewn streams. Durham Ranch is now surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and white fencing, these grounds are where two beautiful people, Mel & Steve, joined hands in marriage. Who knew there was a winery on Treasure Island? What a great place for a celebration. Anna and Jeffrey were married by their good friend on a warm sunny day. They also had karaoke at the reception. I've now had the privilege to work with all but one sibling in the Brunsvold family and it's truly been amazing. I have to say, it will be a sad day after their brother weds, I'll have to start making up excuses to hang out with them. Ha!
All told, it was a perfect day for Laura & Ben which included astounding (and I mean that in every sense of the word) food, friends, some with serious music talent, and an awesome blend of east coast and west families celebrating and just having a blast. Exactly how a wedding should be. :)

Jessie & Dave had some of their close friends & family gather at City Hall for a short & sweet ceremony and then we quickly drove out to the coast to finish off the photos. For the first time I was hiking Sutro Baths (and with my camera)! For Jessie and Dave, having spent a lot of time in that area, it was the ideal place for them. Thanks for the suggestions, guys! One of the many perks of shooting weddings is that I often meet really unique people.  I travel to destinations and dream later that I'm living there; on a boat, in a cabana, under a thatched roof, or even in a 32 foot-high-tree-house perched above the amazon. You know the type.... the type that wants to create a wedding experience for their families and friends; a vacation that lends itself to  relaxation, culture, adventure, quality-time, wave dives, bird calls, binoculars, fresh coconuts, cenotes, fantastic food, lightning and maybe even thunder (the real stuff)

Anna, Darren & Avery } somewhere near Saint Mary's College.

I've had the pleasure to work with Anna and Darren multiple times and every time has been a blast. On this last photo shoot I finally got to meet little Avery. I now know that she loves to eat flowers, she's very interested in the camera and she enjoys lazy days around the pool (especially when she can splash her tiny-little-baby feet in the water). This was one of the most awesome 3 hour weddings I've ever shot.You guys were so fun to work with. Honestly, I think luck was on our side; we got the rotunda, the weather was fabulous & we found a bikecar to tow us around for 20 minutes. It all just seemlessly worked out in our favor.

I have always wanted to photograph a wedding here. I had driven past the grand structure more than once and wondered what the fantastical stone, Hogwarts-like-castle looked like inside. Although there were no moving staircases in sight, I was definitely still impressed. What's more, the intoxicating smell of food wafting through the walls made me *very* happy... like a giddy young girl descending the stairs on Christmas morning. The ceremony was held outside, and even on a chilly night in December, the atmosphere was warm and romantic. I loved this wedding.

I'm totally down with this kind of wedding.... get married on Friday (in this case, City hall), have a nice, formal dinner with family somewhere in the city, call it an early night. Next day, put the dress back on, invite 10 of your best friends over to drink champagne, make your way to one of the oldest & coolest venues in town then dance until the clock strikes midnight! And, maybe even later.
